UNILORIN @ 50: All ‘ll be involved ā€“ Mokuolu

The Chairman of the University of Ilorin Golden Jubilee Anniversary Planning Committee, Prof. Olugbenga Mokuolu, has assured members of the University community that every stakeholder would be involved in the upcoming celebration scheduled for 2025.

Prof. Mokuolu gave this assurance last Tuesday (September 3, 2024) while speaking at a meeting of the Committee held at the Conference Room of the Academic Planning Unit.

The renowned scholar of Paediatrics and Child Health said that every segment of the University as well as concerned individuals and corporate organisations operating at local, national and international levels would be invited to play one role or the other towards making the anniversary celebrations very eventful and memorable.

Prof. Mokuolu added that no one would be seen to be too big to be approached for participation, saying that the series of events connected to the celebration, which would soon be unveiled, would be open to all those who can add value to the celebration and the University.

The multi-award winning don said that list of notable personalities are being compiled for invitation as he added that his Committee would also work with the University Advancement Centre and the leadership of the institution’s Alumni Association towards reaching out to distinguished alumni and friends of the University across the world.

Prof. Mokuolu also assured stakeholders that the Committee would explore every available but reasonable option to ensure that the achievements and contributions of the University are properly advertised through the celebration.

He said that the Committee would always put “the best foot forward” and it would not be extravagant in any of its activities.

The Anniversary Organising Committee Chairman said that suppliers and producers of items and services that would be needed in the course of the celebrations would be made to go through open and competitive bidding before arriving at the best.

Prof. Mokuolu, who is a former Director of the Centre for International Education (CIE), expressed gratitude to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, for the confidence he and his Administration repose in the Committee.
