UNILORIN AAKTP to collaborate with DMU
The University of Ilorin African Agriculture Knowledge Transfer Partnership (AAKTP) project team has expressed its readiness to collaborate with De Montfort University (DMU), Leicester, United Kingdom.
This was disclosed by the UNILORIN team lead of Africa Knowledge Base Supervisor, Dr Musliu Sunmonu when he visited the Dean, Faculty of Computing Engineering and Media of the DMU between October 23 and 31, 2023.
Dr. Sunmonu solicited for further collaboration in the execution of the AAKTP projects in the areas of agriculture, engineering(including applications, data mining, and machine learning), student exchange programme in the area of postgraduate, exchange of staff for external examination of undergraduate/postgraduate programmes and sabbatical/visiting, and visiting Professors opportunities”.
He appreciated the DMU’s promise to publish the two reviewed papers already generated from pre-data gathered from the field exercise if accepted in a Q1 Elseviejournalls and papers to be written from post-field data exercise.
The UNILORIN AAKP also visited the Head and Academic staff of the Faculty of Business and Law (BAL) of the host University.
The two universities also agreed on collaborations in the area of Postgraduate student exchange programme and award of scholarships to students from Nigeria.
Dr Sunmonu said, “We agreed on the visiting Professors in the areas of business administration and sustainable development-related programmes, future collaboration on similar international Agrifood projects, co-supervision of postgraduate doctoral students either remotely or physically and online enlightenment on how to monetize individual profession (Entrepreneurship Booth Camps for both Students and Staff) are also agreed upon”.
The don said that the DMU administration equally agreed on a follow-up between the two universities on the areas of collaborations, stating that the meeting was successful.
He expressed the hope that the collaboration between the two universities will yield positive results.
Speaking further on the collaboration at the office of the Head of Research and Innovation of the host University, the Associate Dean for Research and Innovation and Professor of Biomedical, Prof. Raffaella Villa, disclosed that collaborations in areas of research and innovation and artificial intelligence and cyber security are available and urged the team to take advantage of the opportunity.
Other highlights of the visit are leadership training at Ashorne Hill, a campus tour, and a visit to some laboratories and facilities within the University.
