Make effective use of training, Egbewole charges students

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has urged students of the University, particularly those of the Department of Nursing, to take advantage of every training opportunity in order to deepen their knowledge and skills as well as add value to their lives.

Prof. Ebewole stated this last Wednesday (May 8, 2024) while speaking at the oral presentation of Community Based Experience Scheme (COBES) of the students of the Department held at the College of Health Sciences.

Prof. Egbewole, who was represented by the Dean of the Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences, Prof. Abdullahi Ajibola Akanbi 11, said that COBES is a very essential part of Nursing training, which, he said, would add more value to their lives and afford them the opportunity to contribute their quotas to the development of their various communities.

Prof  Akanbi II, who also represented the Provost, College of Health Sciences,  Prof. Biodun Sulyman Alabi, at the event, explained that COBES training programme will also expose them to more practical  knowledge of their studies and professional calling.

He also said that participation in the training would equally afford them opportunity to meet with different people outside the University and afford them the privilege of making friends towards future networking.

The Vice Chancellor also thanked all the hosting communities for their hospitality and cooperation extended to the students of the University since the inception of COBES training in 1978.

He promised that the University would continue to maintain good relationship with the various communities to enhance future synergy between the host communities and the University.

In his remarks, the Head of the Department of Nursing, Dr. E. E. Aoyepe, congratulated the students on a very wonderful presentation.

He added that he was impressed with the high quality of the presentation as he encouraged the students to work harder, assuring them that a bright future awaits them.

Also speaking, the Coordinator of UNILORIN COBES Unit, Prof. A. S. Adeniran, appreciated the support of the University management for the success he recorded.
