Faculty of Education wins Vice Chancellor’s Cup

The Faculty of Education has emerged as the champions of the highly anticipated football event of the Vice Chancellor’s Cup.

After four days of intense competition, featuring football and athletics, the football final stole the spotlight as the Faculty of Education clinched the title in a thrilling encounter.

In the exhilarating football final played penultimate Thursday (July 4, 2024), the Faculty of Education faced off against the Faculty of Arts, and both teams gave their all, displaying exceptional talents and skills on the field. The match ended in 2-O in favour of Education, earning them the prestigious trophy.

In athletics, the 100 and 200 metres race showcased the incredible speed and agility of the participants, with Omoyemi Ajayi from the Faculty of Arts emerging victorious in both the 100 and 200 metres race for women.

For the men’s category, Precious Oluwakayode Dina and Abdulazeez Olawale from the Faculty of Education secured first place in the 100 and 200 metres race respectively.

The Faculty of Education continued to excel in the 4×100 metres women’s relay final, securing both first and second positions while the Faculty of Social Sciences emerged third.

In the men’s 4×100 metres relay final, the Faculty of Arts secured first position while Faculty of Pharmacy and the Faculty of Social Sciences came second and third respectively.

In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Egbewole, SAN, accompanied by other Principal Officers, expressed satisfaction that the event evoked great enthusiasm and excitement, with students from various Departments actively participating and cheering on their peers.

Represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Management Services), Prof. Suleiman Ambali, the Vice Chancellor commended all participants for their dedication, sportsmanship, and remarkable performances throughout the four-day event.

In a chat with UNILORIN Bulletin, the Director of Sport, Prof. Tajudeen Ibraheem, noted that the competition provided an excellent platform for students to bond and promote a sense of unity, adding that it was a celebration of talent, sportsmanship, and the spirit of healthy competition.

The highlight of the day was the presentation of the VC’s Cup to the victorious Faculty of Education team by the representative of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ambali. Individual medals were awarded to outstanding participants and winners of various events to honour their exceptional performances.
