The Dean of the Postgraduate School, University of Ilorin, Prof B.V. Owoyele, has appreciated the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, on the payment of staff teaching allowance.
In a memo to the Vice Chancellor last Wednesday (January 22, 2025), Prof. Owoyele expressed profound gratitude and appreciation for the commitment of the Management to the welfare of the academic staff, “as exemplified by the recent payment of the postgraduate teaching allowance.”
Prof. Owoyele said, “The gesture, which has been unprecedented in recent years, is a testament to your visionary leadership and the Vice Chancellor’s unwavering dedication to enhancing academic excellence in the University”, adding that this “has been widely acknowledged as a significant morale booster, inspiring renewed enthusiasm and commitment to their teaching responsibilities.”
The Dean described the payment as the first time in recent memory, which underscores Prof. Egbewole’s understanding of the critical role postgraduate education plays in advancing the University’s mission of excellence in research and training.
He said, “By addressing this longstanding concern, you have not only alleviated a source of frustration but also provided a strong incentive for our teachers to rededicate themselves to their academic and mentorship roles with greater zeal and dedication.
“As we strive to maintain and exceed the high standards our University is known for, I assure you of the Postgraduate teachers’ continued commitment to ensuring that the goals and objectives of postgraduate education are achieved under your leadership”, the Dean stressed.
