*Appointment well-deserved – Egbewole
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed a distinguished alumnus of the University of Ilorin, Mr Babs Omotowa, as a Non-Executive Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).
Mr Omotowa’s appointment, alongside others, followed the overhaul of the NNPC to “enhance operational efficiency, restore investor confidence, and a more commercially viable company.”
As part of the overhaul, Engr Bashir Bayo Ojulari was appointed the new Group Managing Director, Engr Ahmadu Musa Kida was appointed as NNPC’s new Non-Executive Chairman, while five other Non-Executive Directors were also appointed.
Mr Omotowa, a former Managing Director of the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas Limited, is a graduate of Industrial Chemistry from the University of Ilorin.
Meanwhile, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has congratulated Mr Omotowa, on his appointment, saying, “It is well-deserved, considering Mr Omotowa’s impressive credentials and experience in the global oil business.”
In a statement issued by the University Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun, the Vice Chancellor, who described Mr Omotowa as a thoroughbred professional and outstanding alumnus of the nation’s most sought-after University, said that the appointee has all it would take to discharge the responsibilities expected of him to the fullest.
The Professor of Jurisprudence and International Law urged Mr Omotowa to seize the privilege of the appointment to work with others towards ensuring the revamp of the nation’s economy, which is largely oil-dependent.
Prof. Egbewole thanked President Tinubu for the confidence reposed in Mr Omotowa. saying that the new Non-Executive Director would give a very good account of himself.
The Vice Chancellor wished Mr Omotowa a very peaceful and successful tenure.
