The Registrar of the University of Ilorin, Mr Mansur Adeleke Alfanla, has charged members of the University Alumni Association to remain good ambassadors of the University and contribute to its development.
Mr Alfanla made this call last Wednesday (November 6, 2024) while speaking at the meeting of the Association held at the Faculty of Communication and Information Science (CIS) Board Room.
The Registrar commended the concerted efforts and contributions of Unilorin Alumni Association members to the progress of the University. He encouraged them to always foster unity and peace within the Association.
Mr Alfanla congratulated members of the Association on the success of the University’s 39th Convocation Ceremonies.
Also speaking, the Unilorin Branch Chairman of the Association, Prof. B. L. Adeleke, thanked members for their support and achievements.
Prof. Adeleke also announced plans of the Association to institutionalise some prizes in honour of the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Is-haq Olanrewaju Oloyede, CON, for the best graduating students in some areas of studies
In his remarks, the former Dean, Faculty of Arts, Prof. A. A. Adeoye, advised members to meet regularly for deliberations that would advance the cause of the Association.
The immediate past Dean of the Faculty of CIS, who is also the Director of COMSIT, Prof. Rasheed Gbenga Jimoh, encouraged the establishment of a very good relationship between the Unilorin Alumni chapter and the national body.
Prof. Medinah A. O. AbdulRaheem of the Department of Chemistry urged members to be vibrant and mobilise all Unilorin Alumni for success.
Others who attended the meeting included Prof. O. A. Oladipo of the Department of Physics, Prof. Nkechi B. Izuogu of the Department of Crop Protection; Prof. Tinuke O. Oladele of the Department of Computer Science, Prof. A. O. Ameen of the Department of Computer Science, Prof. M.M.B. Uthman of the Department of Epidemiology and Community Health, Dr B. A. Raji of the Faculty of Law, Dr. Rahmat T. Salman of the Accounting Department, Ibrahim M. M. B. of the Bursary Department and Awotunde J. Bamidele of the Department of Computer Science.
