Odusote appointed into COREN steering committee

The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, University of Ilorin, Prof. Jamiu Odusote, and 19 others have been appointed as members of the North Central Regional Steering Committee (RSC) of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).

This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Registrar of the Council, Prof. Adisa A. Bello, a copy of which was made available to UNILORIN Bulletin last Tuesday (August 20, 2024),

The statement added that while a past President of the Council, Engr Kashim A. Ali, will serve as Chairman, Engr Kamila Maliki, a former COREN Registrar, will be the Deputy Chairman; and the COREN Regional Officer, Engr Shagbaor, Simon T., will serve as the Secretary.

The Committee, according to the statement, will, among other things, provide technical and administrative guidance for Regional Offices/State Offices in their operations, promote synergy/partnership between Regional Offices/State Offices with Engineering Associations, law enforcement agencies, and other relevant engineering bodies in the region/states, as well as facilitate and participate in media programmes for creating awareness on COREN activities in the region.

                It added that the Committee will also coordinate visits, engineering investigations, discipline of registrants, and legal interventions as may be directed by COREN headquarters. It will also intervene in  COREN activities which require rapid response, advocacies, lobbies, follow-ups, etc. within a region and states and perform any other duty that it may be assigned.
