Face your studies squarely, Fawole charges students

The Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. Oluyemisi Fawole, has charged students, particularly those of the Faculty, to prioritise effective learning over all other activities.

Prof. Fawole gave this advice penultimate Thursday (May 2, 2024) while speaking at this year’s edition of the Faculty Student’s Week at the University Stadium.

She reminded the students that the main reason why they are in the school is to acquire knowledge and skills that would prepare them for the future.

The Dean, however, encouraged the students to always create time to socialise and fraternise with one another, saying that all work without play would eventually bring lethargy.

Speaking on the event, Prof. Fawole, said that it was organised to showcase the Faculty’s commitment to setting new standards for others to follow.

Prof. Fawole commended the committee members for organising a befitting event. She also expressed her gratitude to the students for their enthusiastic participation in the event, which, she said added an extra touch of glamour and style to the occasion.

Prof. Fawole urged the students to relax and enjoy themselves as she emphasised the importance of safety during the games.

`She reminded the participants that the event was a fun fair and encouraged them to play with caution as she said that they must use safety equipment to avoid  injuries.

Also speaking, Mr Ojeniyi Adewale Alamu, a 500-level student of the Department of Agricultural Economics and Farm Management, expressed his excitement about the event.

Mr Alamu explained that the event marked the beginning of the annual final year week programme, which he said,  provides an opportunity for the students to bond and create lasting memories before their departure from the University.

He added that the event included a variety of games reminiscent of their secondary school days such as sack race, bottle filling, bucket filling, arm wrestling, sack wrestling, relays, among others.
