The Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research, Technology and Innovation), Prof. Muhtar Adeiza Etudaiye, was born on December 24, 1966 to the family of Alhaji Musa Etudaiye in Okene, Kogi State.
A Professor of Law, he holds the LL.B degree in Common Law from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (1988). He was subsequently called to the bar after graduating from the Nigerian Law School, Lagos, in 1989. He went to Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, for his LL.M degree (1999) and the University of Ilorin, where he obtained his Ph.D degree in 2010.
Prof. Etudaiye started his academic career at Kogi State University in 2002 as Lecturer II and was employed at the University of Ilorin in 2003. He rose to the rank of Professor in 2017.
He has written several articles in both national and international journals of repute such as the Essex Human Rights Review, Lexigentia, Journal of Malaysian and Comparative Law, Journal Jurisprudence, and the IIC – International Review of Intellectual Property and Competition Law amongst others.
Prof. Etudaiye has previously served as Sub-Dean, Faculty of Law (2010-2012); Head of the Department of Jurisprudence and International Law (2012-2014); Director, Centre for Research Development and In-house Training (CREDIT), University of Ilorin in 2019; and Chairman, University Admissions Committee since 2023. He was also a Member, Legal Committee of the National Council on Privatisation between 2010 and 2015.
He is a member of several professional bodies including the National Association of Law Teachers (NALT) and the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA). He is certified as an accreditor in higher education by the Global University Network for Innovation (GUNA) and AfriQAN as well as a graduate of the Virtual Institute for Capacity Building in Higher Education (VICBHE) Module 3 on Strategic Planning in higher education.
Prof. Etudaiye is happily married to Dr. Fatima Oyebola Etudaiye-Muhtar, and they are blessed with children.
