Student Union seeks more synergy among UNILORIN stakeholders

The Student Union of the University of Ilorin has called for more synergy among stakeholders in order to attain greater heights.

The Union President, Agezeh Victor Oghenetega, made the call penultimate Thursday (January 30, 2025) at the press conference he addressed at the University Auditorium.

Agezeh highlighted the achievements and challenges facing his Administration, emphasising its commitment to student welfare and academic excellence.

He stressed the importance of synergy and collaboration among students, faculties and the University Management.

The Union President discussed the efforts made by the Union to improve student welfare, including initiatives aimed at enhancing better campus life. He also emphasised the Union’s commitment to promoting academic excellence, highlighting various programmes and initiatives of the Student Union.

While responding to some of the questions raised by the students in attendance, the Union leader acknowledged the challenges being  faced by the Union and assured the students that his Administration is working tirelessly to address them. He stressed the need for students to be actively involved in Union activities and decision-making processes.

Also speaking at the event, the Ag. Dean of the Student Units Affairs Division, Dr. Alex Akanmu, emphasised the importance of resilience and determination in overcoming life’s challenges.

Dr. Akanmu drew on personal anecdotes and real-life examples to illustrate the transformative power of perseverance. He also stressed the need for self-awareness, encouraging students to tap into their inner strengths and passions.

The Ag. Dean further urged the Unilorin students to let the torch guide them upwards and onward.

Dr. Akanmu noted that the University community looks forward to more collaborative efforts between the Student Union and other stakeholders.
