The Centre for Management and Leadership, University of Ilorin, has taken a significant step towards enhancing governance and service delivery by mandating leadership training and retraining for all levels. This initiative aims to equip leaders with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles.
The Acting Director of the Centre, Dr Adeola Aminat Odebode, disclosed this while featuring on UNILORIN FM’s Yoruba programme, “Oro to n lo”, hosted by the Station Manager, Mr. Idris Alooma.
Dr Odebode, who revealed that the Centre was established two years ago with the goal of building leaders nationally and globally, said that it offers a range of courses, including certificate programmes, Masters, and PhD degrees, catering to diverse stakeholders.
She stressed the importance of continuous learning and development in leadership positions, stating that investing in leadership growth can produce high-quality leaders who drive excellence and innovation. She stressed further that the Centre’s programmes are designed for students, staff, workers, and the general public.
Dr Odebode, who is a lecturer in the Department of Guidance and Counseling, highlighted the importance of counseling in organisations. She advised youths to shun drug abuse, which can have devastating consequences, and encouraged parents to spend quality time with their children.
