UNILORIN mourns late ex-Council Chairman, Prof. Banjo

The management of the University of Ilorin has commiserated with the family of Emeritus Prof. Ladipo Ayodeji Banjo, a former Pro-Chancellor and Council Chairman of the University.

Prof. Banjo, who was the University’s Council Chairman between 2005 and 2007, died penultimate Friday (May 24, 2024) at the age of 90 years.

This was contained in a letter dated May 30, 2024, and addressed to the family of the late academic giant by the Registrar, Mr Mansur Alfanla, FCIML. The Registrar pointed out that Prof. Banjo’s leadership significantly influenced the University’s growth and academic excellence.

He added that Prof. Banjo was a dedicated scholar and esteemed leader whose guidance steered the University of Ilorin through crucial phases of development.

Mr Alfanla pointed out that Prof. Banjo left behind a legacy of excellence, integrity, and unwavering commitment to education, adding that his scholarly achievements and administrative expertise continued to inspire generations.
