UNILORIN wins 3 awards at Huawei ICT contest

The University of Ilorin’s commitment to excellence in ICT education has earned her another recognition as one of the Best Huawei Information and Communications Technology ICT academies in Nigeria.

 At the 2024/2025 Huawei ICT Competition Nigeria National Final Awards Ceremony held in Abuja last December, leading institutions, instructors, and exceptional students from across the country were rallied to celebrate outstanding achievements in the field of Information and Communications Technology ICT.

The University of Ilorin won three prestigious awards that unequivocally demonstrate its leadership in ICT education and innovation in the country.

Also, a staff member in the Department of Telecommunication Science and instructor at the Unilorin Huawei ICT Academy, Yusuff Nurudeen, was recognised as one of the Best Huawei Academy instructors nationwide.

Sakeenah Sodamade, a final-year student of the Department of Telecommunication Science and Huawei ICT Academy Student Ambassador, was named one of the Best Huawei ICT Academy Student Ambassadors in Nigeria.

The Bursar of the University of Ilorin, Mr Abiodun Lawal, who led the delegation of the University to the awards ceremony, noted that the university’s exceptional performance at the event demonstrates its dedication to empowering students, staff, and the broader academic community with cutting-edge knowledge and skills in ICT.

In his reaction, the Director of the Centre for Research, Development and In-house Training (CREDIT), Prof. Abdulkarim Oloyede, pointed out that this achievement underscores the University’s commitment to promoting a vibrant learning environment that nurtures innovation, excellence, and a deep understanding of the evolving ICT landscape.
