UNILORITES hail campus transporters on affordable fare

Commercial transport operators plying the UNILORIN route have been commended for the high level of understanding shown to commuters in the fare being charged in view of the current scarcity of petroleum products in the country.

This commendation was made last Tuesday (May 7, 2024) by the Sub-Dean, Student Affairs (Male), Dr Mohammed Kabiru Garba, while monitoring activities at the University Motor Park.

Dr Garba said that the management of the University is impressed that, despite the biting scarcity of fuel in the country, UNILORIN transporters effected marginal increment in the transport fares as he note that the fare charged by motorcycle transporters operating within the campus has remained unchanged.

The Sub-Dean said that the understanding displayed by the transporters has been a relief to staff and students of the University at this challenging period.

Dr Garba, who is an Associate Professor at the Department of Statistics, urged the transporters to continue to cooperate with the management of the University for affordable commuting to and from the campus.

Also speaking, a Senior Quantity Surveyor at the Works Department, Mr Ahmed Yakub, said that he was happy that the cost of transportation to and from the campus has not been too high compared to what is obtainable in town.
